Theresa Sareo is a singer with a powerful story to tell; a story of survival, inspiration and proof that being passionate about your dreams can mean the very difference between life and death. After being hit by a drunk drive in midtown Manhattan in June, 2002, Theresa awoke in a hospital bed being told that she survived a horrific car accident which claimed her entire right leg. After weeks of grueling rehabilitation, she began the long journey of reclaiming her life and impressive singing career, which reads as follows: Theresa Sareo's voice can be powerful and tender, her music driving and flowing. Although this singer was raised in Elmira, NY, she calls New York City her home. Fittingly, the images in her music reflect both the the intensity of the big city and the down-to-earth simplicity of the small town. Following a period of indie/dance music success, she is currently a staple on the NYC singer/songwriter circuit, appearing in venues including The Bitter End, The C-Note and the Hammerstein Ballroom. She has been a regular performer at Borders Books & Music, Yale University in New Haven, CT., and enjoyed a successful debut tour of London. She wrote and performed music for renowned artist/painter Mark Kostobi and authors Betty Eadie and Dr. M. Scott Peck. She currently peforms both acoustic and full band sets with drummer/pecussionist Ethan Hartshorn, guitarist Marc Daine, bassist Jim Nordstrom and background vocalist Mary Horenkamp. (The Band). Theresa has recently collaborated with the legendary Blood, Sweat & Tears, both in the studio and on stage. She sang background on David Clayton-Thomas' 911 tribute, "The Lights of Broadway" and joined the band in concert at Westbury Music Fare this summer. (Photo Gallery, www.davidclayton-thomas.com) Theresa is also involved with Swirling Records' CDs, Soap Sessions, Vol. 1 & II, which feature songs performed by five popular daytime soap opera actors. As well as a background vocalist, she is showcased as a songwriter and a featured singer, sharing a duet with All My Children's Vincent Irizzary. (Picture in Photo Gallery). It's available by calling 1-800-963-2656. Visit Swirling Records for more info. Her original "Love Inside of You" was aired on Seton Hall University's radio staion, WSOU, 89.5FM, in dedication to the students and families involved in the fire at Seton's Boland Hall. It is included on her CD Rom, Embrace. Theresa's Embrace CDRom is a compilation of 12 pop/rock, ballad and r&b songs. It also boasts a slick, provacative music video of the title track, Embrace. This self-produced, recorded and mixed CD is a note-worthy execution of audio and visual packaging, perfectly showcasing Theresa as a full-ranged and stylish singer/songwriter/performer. It can be listened to on CDBaby.com and MP3.com, and purchased on CDBaby.com and www.TheresaSareo.com. As well as Embrace, her first CD/EP, Theresa Sareo, was also produced by Theresa and engineered by drummer, Ethan Hartshorn. It highlights her technical and emotional range and includes the billboard contest winning song "Time Flies". It has been hailed as "warm, moving and passionate". She has recently returned from a sold out concert at The Clemens Center in Elmira, NY and also organized and headlined at a benefit concert which raised thousands of dollars for the Engine 16, Ladder 7 WTC Fund in NYC. Inspired by the traditional NY-based singer/songwriter circle, Theresa started one of her own. NY Songwriters' Stories is a forum of support and exposure for fellow local independent recording artists. Hosted by Theresa, it features two other singer/songwriters and is booked every other month around various NYC venues. The next event is Tuesday, Aug. 19th at 7PM at the C-Note and will feature songwriters Gregg Swann and Emily Curtis. Aside from her singer/songwriter performances, she can be heard around town in NYC's most popular jazz restaurants. Catch her next at The Bubble Lounge on Monday, Sept. 22 at 8PM. (Jazz Events) Theresa is also currently promoting a dance remix of her latest orignal song, "I Am the Light". A song of hope and inspiration, she recently opened the Queens Gay Pride event to a receptive crowd of thousands. Using her wide-range of musical experience and versitility, Theresa is also a private vocal teacher. Check out her Voice Lessons page for more info.
