We had a great run with the Cosmic Jug band at NYC's legendary nightclub, Le Bar Bat, which is closing it's doors in January, 2004.  The venue's owner, Peter Fogel, hailed us as "a seriously good band". The Jug is currently recording a 5-song EP and just launched it's website at www.cosmicjug.com.  We look forward to our next show at the C-Note on Saturday, Nov. 22nd - two sets!  (8PM - Free)

I'm wearing "Myrna" quite regularly now.  I'm still very slow on her, but she's providing me with a lot more stamina and most importantly, the ability to stand up and sing without crutches.  I have a long way to go but am working hard and truly appreciate the support from all my friends and fans.  Because of you, she's becoming a diva in her own right!  My current challenge - to start putting her in dresses : )

I recently had a great photo shoot with my favorite photographer, Florence Mazzone, who was in from France.  And gratefully, Peter Chance from the Novellas was able to do lighting.  They are the best photographing team for musicians and the best pictures of me yet.  It's a shame we've lost you, Miss Florence, to your native France.  You are truly missed!  Find evidence of her talents on my bio page.

Last spring I was blessed with the incredible opportunity to sing backup on a 9/11 tribute EP that was written by Blood, Sweat and Tears' unmistakeable lead singer, David Clayton-Thomas.  "The Lights of Broadway" was debuted at Westbury Music Fair in Long Island where  I had the honor of performing on stage with the band.  (Photo Gallery) Proceeds will go to the families of the deceased firefighters and police officers.  It's especially rewarding since my jazz trio's keyboard player, Eric Cortright, has also become a member of the Blood, Sweat and Tears band.  Go to DavidClaytonThomas.com for more info on this great tune and this legendary rock band.
Fun news!!!!!  I was so proud to perform the mighty National Anthem for a great NYC event.  Kicking off the Labor Day Weekend on Friday, August 29th, the wildly popular Brooklyn Cyclones  played against their biggest rivals, the Staten Island Yankees, at their famous stadium on Coney Island - KeySpan Park.  These games are completely sold out for the entire season, but 10 games were aired on the MSG TV Network, including this event.  Thank you to the Cyclones for this incredible honor and opportunity to represent your great Brooklyn team!
A moving night of music was featured at the legendary Cornelia St. Cafe in the heart of Greenwich Village, which is home to the
Songwriter's Beat Series
, a popular songwriter circle in NYC.  Hosted by Val Ghent, March 11th and 25th were dedicated to the six month anniversary of Sept. 11th.  Over 40 songwriters performed songs inspired by 9/11, as well as poetry written by members of the NYFD, NYPD, PAPD, EMS and others.  Actor/director Stephen Buscemi recited a poem by Lou Reed and a special compilation CD will be released.  Theresa was honored to be part of this special event.  Click here for pictures from the evening and click on NYT for the NY Times feature article.  Get the booklet of songs and poetry at

As many of you know, I suffered a terrible car accident on June 11th, 2002.  A drunk driver hit me on the corner of 34th and Park Ave.; not only my neighborhood but one of my favorite parts of town.  I unfortunately lost my entire right leg.  Since this unbelievable thing has happened to me, I have received an unprecidented amount of love and support from people I both know and don't know.  This abundance of love and compassion is undoubtedly enabling me to get through this overwhelming and humbling journey.  I was hospitalized for two months, endured 4 surgeries and received over 30 pints of blood.  I am now recovering at home and am an outpatient in physical therapy - learning to walk not only with my trusty crutches, but through life once again.  I appreciate your awesome amounts of love and will continue to share my progress, both now as an amputee and always as a singer/songwriter.  For those who have asked, there is a fund: Theresa Cerio (Sareo) Trust Fund, c/o Auxiliary to Bellevue Hospital Center, 462 First Avenue at 27th St., New York, NY 10016..........
On November 7th, there was an Indiegrrl benefit for me at CBGB's Gallery in NYC.  It was truly an awesome, inspiring and magically dimensional night.  I don't have the words to express how loving it was for me to see, hear, meet and witness the beauty, grace and rocking talent of these 14 girls. This had to be a record to have that many Indiegrrls together in NYC.  May I gratefully mention each of you:  Sonya Heller, Sharon Edry, Nadine Goellner, Carolann Solebello, Aimmee Van Dyne, Susannah Perlman, Elisa Peimer, Karen Novy, Kelly Buchanan, Black Flamingo, Sarah Woolf, Nicola, Halley DeVestern and Tracy Stark.  And the night ran so seemlessly thanks to the catalyst behind this event-Aimee Van Dyne.  We've each spent countless hours reading our postings and seeing our names on our computer screens, but to have finally met and witnessed who some of us are, what we do, what ties us together and makes us what Indiegrrl really is, was eye-opening, incredibly moving and quite frankly, a huge mind blow.  This event brought an awareness and confirmation as to why I'm proud to be a woman who has dedicated her life to her art, and a reminder as to why  my art is pulling me through my latest challenge.  Each of you 14 grrls have given me more inspiration and courage to not only go on, but to kick ass while I'm doing it.  We can move mountains and one was moved that night in NYC.  It is my  sincerest honor to have met each of you, shared the stage with you and to call myself a fellow Indigrrl.  Let's keep the magic going and do this again and again.

On February 24th, George Harrison would have been sixty years old.  Through the idea of Mike McHugh and the arduous preparation of Curt Schmidt, fifteen NYC musicians united together (with one rehearsal) and performed nearly twenty Harrison classics - for George, on his birthday, in his memory.
There were other tributes that took place over the course of that weekend, but this was the only one that was actually on George's birthday.  I think because of it there was an undeniable magic that took over as we seemingly, without effort, pulled together each song, echoing the spirit and love that was George. I was truly honored as I shared this music with these talented musicians and devoted fans.  Like so many, I was deeply saddended with George's death.  But this experience proved to be a beacon of enlightenment that Harrison's legacy will remain very much alive through the power of his music.  It's a memory that will continue to fill me with joy.  Thank you George, for the opportunity to meet some great people,  become even more familiar with your music and to share your continued love and spirituality with friends and fans.
We recently recorded our upcoming live jazz CD, "Live at the Bubble Lounge", which will be available this Christmas, 2003.  I'm so excited to be featuring favorites in jazz/swing standards and pop classics from our favorite home away from home.  Thank you Billy Lope, (aka, Willie Lopez) for your undying devotion and graciousness.  The Bubble is the absolute best venue in NYC!!!

It's finally written!!!!  I very happily have completed 11 brand new songs for my long-awaited third CD.  As of right now, it's entitled "Alive Again", after what will be the title track.  As many of you know, I started writing this CD before my accident and had quite a time getting through my recovery enough to resume the creative process once again.  It began with "Alive Again", which, like other songs on this record, express the emotions I've experienced along this journey.  Once it was completed, I continued to write about my feelings of love, sadness, loss and hope.  Musically, it reflects the influences and experiences I've encountered this passed year; from my collaboration with Cosmic Jug, my performances in Nashville, to the various music I've been listening to.  I'm looking for producers to co-produce with, and plan to video tape the recording process of the CD in the hopes of releasing a CD/DVD package.  Check in for more updates on this very exciting project and make sure to catch my Theresa Sareo live shows to hear how songs from "Alive Again" are developing !
